Rodrigo Vásquez Schroeder is a prominent chess grandmaster from Chile. Born on February 6, 1969 in Santiago, Chile, he became a grandmaster in 2007, nearly 20 years after his first major international success in the Under 20s Chilean championship in 1988. He has represented Chile in the Chess Olympiad on several occasions, including 1990, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2010.



Vásquez Schroeder joined the University of Texas at Dallas chess team in the 2000-2001 academic year, helping them win the final four of chess in their division. He has also taught chess and writes chess articles for various specialised internet sites. Apart from chess, his secondary job is as a civil engineer.
