Guillermo Vázquez is a Mexican chess Grandmaster. He was born on April 20, 1983 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He earned the title of Grandmaster (GM), the highest title a chess player can attain, in 2008.
Prior to becoming a Grandmaster, Vázquez had already won several prestigious tournaments such as the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championship held in El Salvador, and the Pan American Junior Championship held in Ecuador. He also represented Mexico in various international tournaments including Chess Olympiads and Pan American Team Chess Championships.
In the 2010 World Chess Championship cycle, Vázquez participated in the FIDE World Cup, but was defeated in the first round. Despite this setback, he continued to perform impressively in other tournaments. Notably, he clinched the 2013 Mexican Chess Championship.
Vázquez also has educational qualifications in Physical Education.
