Petar Velikov is a Bulgarian chess Grandmaster and author. He was born on December 23, 1942, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Throughout his chess career, he won multiple titles, including the Bulgarian Championship in 1965, 1966, and 1978. Apart from that, he also represented Bulgaria in several Chess Olympiads.
Aside from being a well-decorated chess player, Velikov is also a writer. He has published numerous chess books, in various languages, which includes Russian, Bulgarian and German. His written work typically includes arena and championships held from the 1980s to 1990s.
Velikov has also worked as a coach and was the trainer of Bulgarian Woman Grandmaster Margarita Voiska.
