Deivy Vera Sigueñas is a Peruvian chess grandmaster. From 2002 to 2007, he was the chess champion of Peru five times consecutively. In 2004, he won the Pan American Chess Championship in Ecuador and later that year, he won the Ibero-American Chess Championship in Linares, Spain. Sigueñas was awarded the title of International Master in 2004 and the title of Grandmaster in 2007.
Sigueñas has represented Peru in five Chess Olympiads from 2002 to 2008, and he was the first board of the Peruvian team that won the silver medal in the Chess Olympiad of Turin, 2006. He's also represented Peru in several Continental Chess Championships, and other international competitions.
Sigueñas was born on 17 October 1982 in Iquitos, Peru. He started playing chess when he was nine years old. He also studying at the University Federico Villarreal in Lima, graduating with a degree in economics. Worked as a chess teacher in the Peruvian Sports Federation. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the Peruvian Sports Institute.
