Clovis Vernay is a French chess master and coach notable for his contributions in the chess community. Born on 29 February 1992, he hails from Bourg-en-Bresse, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. After being introduced to the game of chess at the age of five, he became a full-time professional chess trainee at the age of 16.
Vernay achieved the national master title in 2010 in France. In 2012, he bagged the international master title then reached the world's top 100 juniors U20 list in 2013. He is known for winning several high-profile tournaments like the Paris Championship in 2014 and France championship (National B) 2015.
In addition to his accomplishments as a player, he simultaneously contributes as a coach by training several national juniors and managing a blog about chess, which supplements his vocation as a chess professional.
