Visakh N. R. is an Indian chess grandmaster, born on 27 January 1999 in Kottayam, Kerala, who earned the title in 2014 at age 15.

Visakh began learning chess at the age of 7 and achieved his first significant success at the national level in 2009, winning the Under-11 championship. He went on to win the National U13 in 2011, and the Asian U14 in 2012. He broke into the international scene in 2013 with an unbeaten 7th position in the World U14 Championship in Maribor, Slovenia.

He scored his first GM norm at the World Junior Chess Championship 2014, in Pune, India. Later that year, he won the 8th Asian Schools Chess Championship 2014 in Taiwan, which fulfilled the requirements for the title of International Master. However, he had already earned the three norms required for the Grandmaster title, finishing 5th at the International Grand Master Open in Nagpur, 2014, earning the final norm.

In the Aeroflot Open 2016, he caused a major upset by defeating super grandmasters Nigel Short and Wang Hao. He also shared the first position in the Mulhouse Open, 2016 in Paris, with seven points out of nine rounds.
