Prasanna, born on 23rd January 1990 in Chennai, India, was introduced to chess by his father at the age of three. His proficiency was evident as he secured bronze at the World Youth Chess Championship under-10 boys segment in 1999.
He completed his education at Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram and later studied at the SSN College of Engineering.
Prasanna's notable successes include 1st place at the 2008 Gurgaon International Open, 2nd at the 2013 Basel Chess Festival, and 1st at the 2014 Basel Chess Festival.
Prasanna is also actively involved in chess coaching. He pioneered the famous Kingmaker Chess Academy in 2011, along with his wife R. Aarthie, who is also an international chess player. Through this academy, he has mentored several successful Indian chess players such as R. Praggnanandhaa and Aravindh Chithambaram.
Amid his coaching career, he still participates in tournaments across the world and continues to make substantial contributions in developing Chess in India.
