Yge Visser is a Dutch chess grandmaster who was born on November 4, 1963, in Leiden, the Netherlands. Visser was awarded the title of FIDE Master in 1988, International Master in 1995, and eventually Grandmaster in 2006, making him the oldest player ever to achieve that title.
His chess career spans many decades and includes many achievements. Notably, from 1985 to 1993, he played in ten consecutive Dutch Championships. Over the years, he has also participated in several Chess Olympiads, representing his home country. Between 1998 and 2000, he played on the Dutch Olympic team and also won the Dutch Open Championship in Leiden.
Visser also pursued a career in coaching and teaching. He was a teacher at the Gifted Mind Academy in the Philippines for approximately ten years. Additionally, he served as the coach of the Dutch Ladies Team during the Chess Olympiad in 2000.
