Pavlo Vorontsov is a Ukrainian chess player who was awarded the title of Grandmaster by Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) in 2018. Born on February 17, 1998, he currently ranks as the No. 16 player in Ukraine and No. 294 in the world.
Vorontsov began his chess career at the age of six, first gaining recognition by winning the 2008 U10 Ukrainian Championship. He then went on to win the 2011 European Youth Chess Championship U14 category, after which he rapidly progressed, securing the International Master title in 2014.
In 2016, he won the Ukrainian U20 Championship and represented Ukraine at the World U20 Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. In 2018, he was conferred the title of Grandmaster. Some of his notable performances include winning the Odessa International Chess Festival in 2018, and achieving shared second place at the 2019 Capablanca Memorial tournament. He also represented Ukraine in the Chess Olympiad in 2020.
