Milan Vukić is a renowned Serbian chess Grandmaster, born on 10th August 1942. His chess career is highlighted by several significant achievements, including his win at the Yugoslav Championship in 1965 and his FIDE (the international chess federation) Grandmaster title in 1975.

Vukić began his chess training in Belgrade and was a two-time Yugoslav Junior Champion in 1959 and 1960. He followed up these early successes by winning the Yugoslav Championship twice in 1965 and 1970. He also participated in six Chess Olympiads, representing Yugoslavia, where he won three bronze team medals in 1966, 1968, and 1974, as well as an individual bronze medal in 1974.

He demonstrated a remarkable record in international tournaments, such as winning the IBM tournament in Amsterdam in 1969, sharing first place in Olot, Spain in 1980, and achieving second place in Lone Pine, California in 1981. Vukić was also successful at international team events. He secured a couple of team silver medals and a team bronze at three European Team Championships, and won three gold medals at Balkaniads.

His most important performance was probably at the Interzonal in Manila in 1976, where he ended up in 7th place, securing him a place in the Candidates Tournament. He also played in the Interzonal tournaments of 1964 and 1979.

Vukić is also committed to passing on his knowledge to the next generation, working as a chess trainer.
