Dennis Wagner is a German chess grandmaster. He was born on 19th January, 1997 in Troisdorf which is a town in Germany's Rhein-Sieg district. Wagner started his chess career in 2002 when he became an active member of the German Chess Federation (DSB). He then made his way to become one of the most successful German junior players after being coached by Alexander Naumann and the German national coach Dorian Rogozenco.

Dennis Wagner had a remarkable career graph with multiple achievements. In 2011, he became the U14 German national champion. In 2012, he won the silver medal in his debut at the European Youth Chess Championship for the U16 category. In 2013, he won two national youth titles and finished fourth in the World Youth Chess Championship for U16 category.

Wagner earned his first grandmaster norm in 2012 at Barcelona's Sants Open. His second grandmaster norm and third grandmaster norm were achieved in 2014 and 2015 respectively, which made him the tenth youngest German chess Grandmaster.

Later on, Wagner cemented his position as one of the strongest young talents in German chess by achieving several tournament victories such as the Vlissingen Open 2015, the London Chess Classic FIDE Open 2015 and the Cannes Open 2016. He also played as first board for SV Hockenheim in the Chess Bundesliga from 2016 to 2018.

Dennis Wagner has been part of the German national team since 2013, representing the country at the European Team Chess Championship and Chess World Cup.
