Jan Werle is a chess grandmaster from the Netherlands. He was born on 15 November 1984, in Purmerend, a village in North Holland. Werle earned the title of International Master in 2002 and the Grandmaster title in 2005.
His most notable achievements include placing second in the 2005 European Junior Chess Championship, winning the 2008 Dutch Chess Championship, and securing third place in the 2008 EU Individual Open Chess Championship. In 2009, he won the championship of the University of Groningen, where he was enrolled as a law student at the time.
