Xiao Tong is a Chinese chess grandmaster, born on November 20, 2008 - the fifth-youngest grandmaster in Chinese history and the first player born in 2008 anywhere in the world to earn the title. Like Wang Hao before him, he became a grandmaster without ever taking the International Master title.

His norms came in a remarkable 2023 run: the Orillas de Mar International Open in July - where he tied for first with Abhijeet Gupta and Bu Xiangzhi, and his win over Hannes Stefansson was named game of the week - the Villa de Benasque Open the same month, and the SixDays Budapest event in September. In July 2024 he won the Biel Chess Festival Swiss.
