Jeffery Xiong is an American chess grandmaster. Born on October 30, 2000, in Plano, Texas, Xiong is recognized as the youngest American to qualify as a grandmaster since Bobby Fischer. He achieved this title at the age of 15 years, 4 months, and 25 days, which is four months slower than Fischer.
Xiong has participated in various chess competitions, and has had stunning victories. These include winning the U.S. Junior Championship in 2016, and the World Junior Chess Championship in India in the same year where he became the first American champion since 1997. He also had a solid performance in the 2017 U.S. Chess Championship, where he finished fifth, and in the 2019 U.S. Chess Championship, where he came third.
