Ramazan Zhalmakhanov is a Kazakhstani chess grandmaster, born on November 6, 2002. He was awarded the FIDE Master title in 2017 and the International Master title in 2021, and made his mark in team chess early - defeating grandmaster Awonder Liang in Kazakhstan's quarterfinal against the United States at the 2021 FIDE Online Olympiad, where his junior team topped Group A of the Top Division.
At the 2022 Asian Games he held super-grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi to a draw, and at the 2023 FIDE Grand Swiss he beat grandmasters Alan Pichot and Bassem Amin in the opening rounds, both rated more than 200 points above him.
