Yaroslav Zherebukh is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster who gained his International Master title in 2007, and his Grandmaster title in 2009. He was born on July 14, 1993, in Lviv (Ukraine). Zherebukh's early accomplishments include winning the silver medal in the 2003 World Boys Under 10 Chess Championship and the bronze medal in the 2005 European Under 12 Chess Championship.


In 2008, Zherebukh took second place at the Ukrainian Chess Championship, and in 2011 he finished at the semi-final stage in the Chess World Cup. That same year, he moved to the United States, where he has since become a resident. He has remained active in various competitions, such as winning the 2013 Philadelphia International, taking first place in the 2016 Fall Chess Classic, and taking third place in the 2017 U.S. Chess Championship. He is also a member of the Webster University chess team, a team that won four consecutive collegiate chess championships from 2011 to 2014.


He became a coach in 2015, trains current U.S. Junior Champion Awonder Liang, and serves as a second to Fabiano Caruana during World Chess Championships. Since 2016, Zherebukh has been studying finance at Saint Louis University's John Cook School of Business on an academic and athletic scholarship.
