Oleksandr Zubov is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster and FIDE trainer. He was awarded the title of International Master in 1998 and that of Grandmaster in 2002. He is three-time champion of Ukraine. He competed in the FIDE World Chess Championship in 2004 and the FIDE World Cup in 2005 and 2017.


In team competitions, he has been very successful representing Ukraine. In European Team Chess Championships, he has won a team gold (2001), two team silver (2011, 2017) and individual bronze (2017) as a reserve player. In World Team Chess Championships, he won team silver and individual gold as a reserve in his debut in 2011.


In youth competitions, Zubov won the Under-16 division of the European Youth Chess Championship in 2000 and the World Junior Chess Championship in 2001. He won the Ukrainian Chess Championship in 2010, 2014, and 2019. He has also performed well in rapid and blitz events, such as the ACP Golden Classic in 2012, where he won the blitz tournament.



Aside from playing, Zubov is a successful chess coach, who has been working for FIDE as a trainer since 2005. He had also been the coach for the national team of Bangladesh until 2016.
