I co-owned a Jazz/Poetry cafe in Downtown Detroit for 5 years (Cafe Mahogany 1995-2000). On the weekends, we played chess 'til 6 and 7 in the morning. Although, we were muscled out (with the renaissance comes the big corporations and money talks), the buzz about Cafe Mahogany is still there... even the press still writes about it. We will be back someday... quenching our thirst, eating the chef's recommendations, listening to live bands & most of all just playing chess.
