What is Connected Passed Pawns?
Chess Terms : Connected Passed Pawns Explained
Connected Passed Pawns in chess refers to two or more passed pawns of the same color on adjacent files. A passed pawn is one with no opposing pawns to prevent it from advancing to the eighth rank, i.e., there are no opposing pawns in front of it on either the same file or adjacent ones. Therefore, connected passed pawns are considered powerful because they can defend each other and have a high potential for promotion to a more powerful piece.
