Chess Terms : Dark Squares Explained
Dark squares in chess refer to the black squares on a traditional chess board. These alternate with light or white squares across the 8x8 grid layout of the game board. This concept plays a significant role in strategy, particularly when talking about the bishops, which can only move diagonically and hence, are restricted to squares of the same color for the entire game.
