What is Fischerandom?

Fischerandom, also known as Chess960, is a variant of chess that was created by former world chess champion, Bobby Fischer. This game follows most traditional chess rules but with a change in the initial setup of the pieces on the home rank. The pieces are placed in a randomized manner which results in 960 unique possible starting positions, hence the name Chess960. The main objective of this format is to emphasize strategy, creativity, and skill by eliminating pre-memorized opening sequences.
