Chess Terms : Hanging Pawns Explained

Hanging Pawns

Hanging Pawns refer to a pair of pawns on adjacent files, i.e., vertical columns of squares on a chessboard, which are isolated from other pawns. They are often perceived as a weakness since they cannot be defended by other pawns and thus may require protection from other pieces. However, they also can control key center squares and can potentially become a strength if utilized properly during a game.
