What is Interference?

Interference is a tactical motif in which a piece is placed between two opposing pieces to disrupt their coordination—blocking a line of defence, attack, or communication. Interference can sever the connection between rooks on a file, block a bishop's diagonal, or disrupt a defensive setup.
