What is Isolated Pawn?
Chess Terms : Isolated Pawn Explained
An Isolated Pawn is a chess pawn that has no pawns of the same color on adjacent files. This lack of support from other pawns usually makes the isolated pawn a weakness, although there can be compensations. For instance, the squares adjacent to an isolated pawn can often be used as strong points for pieces.
