Chess Terms : Rook Lift Explained
A Rook Lift is a tactic in chess where a player moves their rook to a higher location in order to increase its activity and influence over the game. This usually involves moving the rook up to the third, fourth, or fifth rank, followed by moving it laterally across the board. It is typically done after the player has already developed their minor pieces and connected their rooks, and it often prepares or supports a pawn storm or an attack on the opponent's king.
