Chess Terms : Sudden Death Explained
Sudden Death in chess refers to a stage in a chess tournament where players must make each of their moves within a certain period of time. This is implemented to avoid long or potentially indefinitely long games. If a player fails to complete a move within the designated time, they automatically lose the game, irrespective of the positions of the pieces on the board. This stage typically occurs after a series of games where the outcome has been a draw or tied score.
