First off, happy New Year to all. Thanks to all the game mods, forum mods, beta testers, and people who generally helped out from time to time over the last year. It was certainly a busy year for me personally, steering the good ship RHP, and completing a number of other commitments in parallel.
2006 awaits, and I still have a head full of ideas still waiting to be implemented. 2005 may not have seen as much visible innovation as I would have liked on the site, but plenty of re-engineering took place to prepare for the future, culminating in a significant server upgrade (software, not hardware) over the holiday period.
So, for the future, the long delayed new board code, which should satisfy everyone's current requirements, should be in beta soon. Beyond that, I don't really want to discuss much more, but there are some large changes (or should I say 'additions'😉 in the pipeline. As always, any significant new features will be discussed in the 'site ideas' forum and go to a consultation vote, if required.
Also, in early 2006, we will be 5 years old! Development of this site started over the Christmas period in 2001 though, so it is 5 years for me already! And, although running this site has been a bit of a black hole regarding my time, it does continue to be challenging and fun. So thanks again to everyone for supporting the site, either by contributing via subscriptions and/or helping build and maintain the community that exists here.
Cheers!

Originally posted by MRobertsI'll second that. BTW I got a message saying this site runs scripts
Yes, this site is worth far more than just chess, it is also a community, something which is very special when online.
This is also the only site I have ever subscribed to, and well worth the £16 I forked out for the subscription.
Well done Russ, and thanks for making such a great site!
and it will run slow because of it, therefore do you want to stop
scripts from running here? I go yes to see what happens and the
whole window became much less graphic and was surrounded by
a red border around each icon and the main areas. Ever see that?
Next time I logged in, everything was back to normal.
Originally posted by Russi may be wrong russ, but if it was made in Christmas of 01, it wont be 5 years for you till christmas of 06, not christmas of 05.i think.
