The Simpsons Clan has been disbanded; however, if someone likes the title and would like to "save it", there are a strong a loyal group of players still there who would rejoin and play for it.

You can leave a clan if it goes completely defunct (no more members, only the leader). Just send feedback to request leaving and the clan becomes inactive (null leader).

The clan can never disappear because of all the recorded matches with other clans.

I've suggested that those clans go into a "bank" for members to see. Rather than creating a new clan every time, members willing to lead a clan could "shop" for an available clan first.
