"The 23rd James Bond film has been officially axed and insiders predict it could be years before the suave spy is back on the big screen again.

In April, production on the 23rd movie on Bond, who was to be portrayed by Daniel Craig for the third time, had been postponed due to "financial problems" at movie studio MGM, but now it has been cancelled altogether, Daily Mirror online reported."

Bond films haven't been the same since Cubby Broccoli passed on.

Maybe it's just as well; they peaked to early with Casino Royal (Craig) and the QoS was poor in comparison. I also wonder if that type of movie has had it's day - it's been done to death with the incomprehensible Bourne sequels.

I've been wanting to see a black James Bond -- perhaps Will Smith or someone like that? -- maybe this would be a good time to move in that direction.

Will Smith as James Bond. That's sure to breathe life into the franchise. ๐Ÿ™„ How about Jackie Chan next?

Peaked? Putting Craig as Bond was always going to kill the franchise. It basically turned Bond into a normal action hero. And there the Bourne franchise does it much, much better.

The CR romantic scene is cringeworthy and really shows how bad actors those two are.

Agreed! There's nothing suave and sexy about Craig. He has neither humor nor class. He's just some guy, not Bond. Maybe Bond's younger brother from his father's second marriage.
