Yep, was thinking the same thing. I think Rory Block did a cover of it also.
And I think Ry Cooder did it in the '70's.

9 Dark Was the Night (Blind Willie Johnson) – Kronos Quartet

I have to wonder what that sounds like. I wasn't crazy about the Kronos album with Monk tunes, but I found the one covering Bill Evans likeable.

I came here thinking it was the Allen Lowe album where he covers it with Roswell Rudd 🙂
