"I Want You Back" and "ABC" - Jackson 5 (Milton Felder)

Also, it's rare to hear a Motown or Beatles tune without a great bassline (courtesy of James Jamerson and Paul McCartney, respectively).

I like never-pay-it-the-same-way-twice bass playing, like Phil Lesh - or jazz bassists. Spontaneous, unique, one-off bass lines. They are good bass lines.

I prefer spiderwire. A good braided line tossed into thick weeds will pull lunker bass out everytime.

As far as bass sounds go, nothing beats what Martin Hannett did for Joy Division.

As far as technique goes, Mike Watt is the bassist I enjoy listening to most. Rob Wright (Nomeansno) is second.
