    Its St. Paddys day

    As In St. Patricks day......

Americans would because the nickname here for Patrick is Pat, not Paddy. I don't know about the rest of the "everyone" you refer to.

    Ironic, but not a surprise
that our nascent Culture gave rise
    to a poetry thread
    that contains "prose" instead:
    In general, we're in disguise.

    It's been a year,
    Make a move.
    This doesn't rhyme.

There once was a chicken from Maine
Who tried to play chess quite in vain.
    I heard he was royal,
But his knights were not loyal,
So he usually ended up slain.

    I'm no demonstrative fellow,
but this verse drives me to bellow:
    Adesso basta!
    That's enough pasta
    from Noodles and her vermicello!

There was a young man from new york
who ate his pork with a fork
    his brother came by
threw a pie by his eye
and he swallowed the fork with the pork.
