This is not only obnoxious, it's whining, and lame...in the extreme. I feel like slapping the guy the wrote it (except he might enjoy it!)

You got me curious... What is a song you think is great?

Sorry, Dr. Hook turned out some decent music, but that one was simpering, and lame.

Just because it is old school doesn't mean it is good!

I said, "Did you know that the prominent bass line in it was quarter-toned?"
"No."
(Meaning the bass player was deliberately playing some notes halfway between the standard concert pitch notes.)
The same coworker hated 'Sleepwalk' by Santo & Johnny:

Back in 1960 or so, this radio station in LA, KFWB, was a rock station in the 50's but in 60, was maybe bought out, not sure, anyway, they went from rock to 24/7 news.
A funny thing happened, one of the DJ's locked himself in the control room and played this one song over and over again, a REALLY stupid song, the DJ must have gone through a LOT of records before he found this stinker:
Just got back from outer space, Gonna check out the human race,
with a totally obnoxious singing voice.
So the DJ would go, Ok kids, here is Frank Sinatra singing Love me or leave me, then JUST GOT BACK FROM OUTER SPACE...
Ok, kids, now for some Elvis, HEARTBREAK HOTEL,
JUST GOT BACK FROM OUTER SPACE....
And so it went for 24 solid hours! They finally figured out how to cut the power or something and that little protest was over and KFWB started doing news onlyπ
All us kids were laughing our assses off the whole time, it was a blast! But we knew that song was in the toilet badπ
