@AverageJoe1 saidOur government lives beyond it's means. I agree with that. It's not my fault and I don't want it. Don't put that on me.
A person lives beyond his means. You want a persons within their means to pay for the guy who bad choices.
That is what you want, pay for their tuition, pay for their sex changes, etc. So with such disingenuous positions, it is hard to listen to any of your other positions.

Stop deflecting. We're trying to solve a problem about this $2 trillion. I don't understand how you can justify asking everyone to pay $6,000 when most people don't have it. They'd have to borrow it or sell stuff. They're trying to live within their means but now you come along and say "Live within your means and subtract an additional $6,000 from that. Trump needs it for golfing."
@wildgrass saidSee big picture. Not you. Millions and millions before you....decades of law makers. THEY have brought it to this point. Don't beat us all to death. It is empty chat to see who and how it got here.

We inherited a system shaped long befor either of us had any influence over it. We still need to debate solutions , but remember that this challenge belongs to all of us now not just one group of Americans.....not just the rich. If you think bringing thm down will do it,,,,,,yeah, getting their money may do something, but causing them to disappear???That will do something else. Careful what you wish for. Mamdani as we speak is running a very rich man out of NYC. Hey....and he won't look back. Somebody works fo that man. maybe his housekeeper makes $125K. Well she will be making zero next week,
@AverageJoe1 saidWell it's not ancient history. It kinda started with Reagan and Clinton actually fixed it before Bush broke it again. These folks are still alive. As previously mentioned Democrats always make it better and Republicans always make it worse. If you care about it, vote accordingly.

@wildgrass saidDemocrats 'make free stuff better', that can be the only reason you socialists and dependents would say a party is better. I hope the Repubs hold off on giving stuff away, as they will, in effect, be giving our country away...........

......but you know that........that they will give away the country, all the billionaire's wealth, just give it to you dart throwers down at the Pub.
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
My physician says that if you get after all their assets, he will stop medicating me, he will just stop period. Do any Mexican doctors come over the Rio Grande? Lord, I hope so....I will need a new hip soon. Will there still be factories that make new plastic hips????

@AverageJoe1 saidYou are on the record in this thread as wanting to charge every American $6,000, not people who want free stuff, everyone. Even people who literally don't have $6,000. Even children.

There are other, much better options. I like the wealth tax, but other things are also good ideas. Like maybe raising the top marginal income tax percent back to where it has been, historically. Even under Reagan it was much higher. Put it back to 35% and this $2 trillion number would decrease. Your grandkids don't have to pay the current salaries of ICE officers.
Another good idea is to ask heirs to pay capital gains on their inheritances. Currently they don't have to pay a dime on the capital gains. Or maybe I don't know, a borrowing tax to prevent ultra-wealthy from taking advantage of financial schemes to avoid taxes on their income.
Your idea stinks though. Asking poor people, some laid off, out of work, sitting in a hospital bed, kids still playing T-ball, to pay Trump $6,000. Ridiculous.
@wildgrass saidIt is obvious that all citizens cannot pay $6000, I was saying that as a mathematical observation. (Based on the national average income being $65,000.). (10%...do you get it!?!?)

Everybody pay a portion of their salary. Let me whittle it down for you. What if we have a law now that says everybody pay a dollar extra for a gallon of gasoline to get rid of a nuclear threat from a rabid country? Are you going to say that not everyone can afford an extra dollar for a gallon of gas.?
You certainly would say that, totally overlooking my concept. Oh well, look who I am having to debate with. Whew
How would you vote on that?
@AverageJoe1 saidDude, we already do that. Average tax is 14.5%, a LOT of money for most people.

Not Warren Buffett though, he pays 0.1%. He's driving the average down!
This $2 trillion has to go beyond that. It's extra money that the government needs to charge us to cover their spending.
I've already presented my ideas. You want to charge an EXTRA $6,000. That was your idea. Bad idea.
@wildgrass saidBezos pays all INCOME taxes due on his income, too. He has for years had a salary of $181,000. Buffet also has minimal income, all of their wealth is in investments, not subject to income tax. You and Elizabeth Warren want to punish them. The companies between the 2 of them employ a lot people, produce a lot of goods, and provide a lot of services, You and AOC et al and the skinny nsty mayor of Seattle say we do not need billionaires.

Do you think we do not need billionaires>. ? i ask the best questions.
As to 14.5%, a mis-nomer, as 40% of the people pay nothing. You are a confused lot, you WANT to feign ignorance so you can write this tripe.
@AverageJoe1 saidPivoting away, again. You backed off your idea of charging $6,000 extra per person to pay this bill, since it's unrealistic and hurtful, but do not propose any alternative solution other than to double down on your fealty to billionaires.

We are way into this thread now. How do we get this bill paid?
