So? The Virginia Company claimed Virginia with the full support of King James which ignored Native American tribes. Eventually, they attacked to drive the invaders out (Powhatan War).

The UN had no authority to 'partition' Palestine because the UN is not a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED BODY. The Palestinians did not elect a UN representative - nor did anyone else. Legitimate governmental authority comes from the consent of the governed. That did not happen.

The rest of that narrative collapses immediately.

The land did not belong to the Arabs. Arabs owned some, so did Jews, so did the Chinese and Spanish etc. But control of the state and governance was the right of the British. Prior to 1915, there was the Ottoman Empire, and after that came the British Empire. Land was owned and controlled by war and conquest. The League of Nations and subsequently the United Nations gradually sought to bring all that under control so that there would be no need for war. In 1948 the UN, and the British had the authority to partition the land.

Not according to America:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..."

And not according to the UN. The UN grossly violated their own charter when they imposed partition in the way that they did. The UN tried to correct this error for decades, with the US steadfastly vetoing every single attempt.

Article 1(2): "To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace;

The creation of the state of Israel was illegitimate and a horrible screw-up by Britain, the UN, and the United States which has lead to over 70 years of war and hundreds of thousands dead.

At some point we should say, "enough."

Right, therefore the Arabs in 1948 should have accepted their potion and live in peace. They chose war. The Jews accepted and chose peace. The Arabs do not own that piece of land.

So war it is. Let them battle it out.

Israel gave back nearly all the land they gained in the 1967 war.

Not sure how that folds into this, but it must be considered.

In 1967, Israel's surprise attack resulted in seizing the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Gaza Strip, as well as the Syrian Golan Heights and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula.

The only part Israel has given back was Sinai, in exchange for peace with Egypt. The rest remains under Israeli control.

Israel is currently trying to ethnically cleanse the other parts of Arabs so that Jewish settlements can be expanded in those territories, which will one day be annexed to Israel itself, as long as the demographic balance favors the survival of a "Hebrew" state.

I thought the West Bank was given back to Jordan, or why else would Israeli settlements there be such a big deal, East Jerusalem is where the Dome of the Rock is, and someone has it, or the Israelis never would have given permission for a mosque to be built on the actual site of the Temple on the Temple Mount. I also thought the Syrians got the Golan Heights back as well.

But I like 'Red Hot Pawn', and the name was what brought me here to begin with. I sensed that there was something more here than just another vanilla website, which is the image 'Daily Chess' brings to me.

The name RHP has much history, and you may be stuck with at least grandfathering those graphics as an option for the foreseeable future. 🙂

Edit: I remember all of those graphics except the first one.
