New York, as well as other states, are lifting indoor mask restrictions.

If you look around the world, Europe is dropping Covid mandates. Some of these countries, like the Nordic ones, are simply following WHO guidelines and easing restrictions due to their high vaccination rates and good healthcare.

Others are dropping them for political reasons, like the U.K. And countries like Canada are being overwhelmed by citizens who are tired of dealing with Covid.

I think the 2022 will be the last we see of masks, lockdowns, etc. Don't get me wrong: that doesn't mean Covid will disappear this year. But the the way the world is going, this stage of dealing with the pandemic seems to be coming to an end.

Seems, to me, if you're vaxxed
and boosted, you're pretty safe.
If everyone had gone along,
this would already be over.

Yeah, there's a lot of "ifs". If only the whole world had agreed to lock down for just one month, it would've been over.

Covid is here to say. At some point, whether we're ready to or not, we have to resume an existence without these mandates. This can't continue forever.

The pandemic had me thinking of the movie "Independence Day" with Will Smith. The silly US-exceptionalism theme aside, it had one interesting idea: that when faced without an obstacle that threatens humanity, humans beings of all cultures will find they must work together to conquer that obstacle. Covid seems to have utterly shattered that myth.

As society evolves, and more are vaxxed
it will go the way of Mumps, Polio, Smallpox, etc.
No one boycotts these vaccines.

Maybe. There are a lot of anti-vaxers these days. We live in a new age where misinformation spreads faster than any disease.

by, I believe Reagan.....Networks and news outlets,
used to be required to provide equal time,
for opposing views.......Only time you see it

Yes.
If aliens attack (as if they’d want to come to this rock of insanity) we’re bloody doomed.

Doomed, I tells ya!

I agree that covid restrictions will be gone in most places by April or May.
There’s always the chance of a nastier mutation though. And I don’t see it being an easy task to manage the situation if there is.

And I agree that there is a major problem within society with so many people believing nonsense, spreading false information and not believing experts and science on these very complicated issues.

Here in Europe divisions have appeared between people, based on a very vocal 10%, divisions which aren’t going to heal soon.

Even I’ve lost any empathy towards certain groups and individuals. Seriously, I just can’t listen to them anymore. Anti-vaxxers, anti-any restrictions at all, but still want to be kept safe and don’t want live meetings, etc.

The weather better start getting better soon, at the moment I just hope a lot of people die. Slowly and painfully. Just die.

Hey! Where’s my Joe Rogan approved horse-dewormer when I need it?

Well they’ll either die or they won’t and get some level of immunity from infection. As long as the majority can keep getting boosters if required and no new highly transmissible and high pathology level variants appear then we will open up and stay open.
People seem to forget that covid held the very real threat of decimating populations and crippling health care systems if left unchecked and potentially still does.

as long as viruses are CREATED and released on the world for political (power) gain we are fuked.

With this covid virus, democrats gained, china gained, big pharma got rich(er). And all you fools think about is how to avoid it.

Until we get to the bottom of how this virus came into being and released we are doomed to repeat it.

Wonder why pelosi and dems are blocking an investigation into this?

Yup. I'd be watching the Great Blue Surrender with my feet up and a big bag of popcorn if I weren't so damned busy. I am happy for the Blue state public school children who are going to finally get to freely interact with each other for the first time in 2 years.

Nothing had changed scientifically, of course. But governments are starting to realize that people are not going to tolerate having their lives restricted based on a threat from an endemic respiratory virus forever.

Thankfully, authoritarian thugs like Randi Weingarten are not dictators.
