An avoidable tragedy.
The news article talks about them leaving war-torn countries and of fleeing oppression and hate etc.
But hold on a sec…they had travelled through several European, no let’s say EU countries, none of which seemed acceptable including Germany I might say. And they were safely parked up in Mr Macron’s wonderful new-look France when they decided to risk the crossing.
Why did these poor people risk their lives to leave the welcoming arms of the progressive EU and travel to racist Brexit Britain which is allegedly going to hell in a hand basket, where people are starving as we don’t have food on the shelves, where millions are living on the streets, social care is being crippled by a corrupt government and we are out of fuel.
Thoughts?
@divegeester saidFish and chips.

@divegeester saidThey already speak English and might have the expectetions to find enough support with established migrants.

Oh and not all of Britain was in favour of Brexit, and may I add not all British are racists...?
Should I be sad, that Germany seems not as attractive as Britain to some?
@divegeester saidBecause they speak English, you know, what with the empire n that. There are plenty of N African French speaking migrants heading there.
An avoidable tragedy.

Why should the French absorb those who have been travelling to the UK from the minute they leave their war torn countries.
A cynic might think the government is perfectly happy for cheap labour to replace the Europeans we’ve lost to Brexit.
But hey it’s much more fun to blame Johnny Foreigner.
@divegeester saidAny feelings for the migrants themselves who've died?
An avoidable tragedy.

Or is this only about political bitching?
@dood111 saidImagine your an English speaker and you’ve had to drag your family out of Afghan or Iraq just to survive and you make it to the continent, where is your common sense going to tell you you’ve got the best chance of making a life for yourself. Imagine what being able to speak the local lingo does for your job prospects and your ability to negotiate the asylum seeking process.
So how bad did they have it in France to make them put their kids in an overloaded rubber raft and risk their lives?
Not like they are escaping from Cuba.
@kevcvs57 saidBanana oil, they made it to safety in France, which has a generous social network for refugees.

They didn't have to put their kids at risk like that.
@ponderable saidThey might already have support from other migrants in any country so that’s a moot point.
They already speak English and might have the expectetions to find enough support with established migrants.
Which leaves your assertion that they risked their lives because they might have spoken English as a second language.
Right.
@kevcvs57 saidSo Ponderable’s argument that speaking English as second language is worth risking your life to leave the EU land of unicorns and rainbows and head to the land of Brexit and hate.

Oh and you usual crock of silly anti-Brexit voter tropes.
Right.
@suzianne saidNot really. It’s very sad of course but I didn’t know them personally.

Last week the same number of people in the UK committed suicide; I don’t have any “feelings” for them either.
Play better.
@dood111 saidPerhaps France didn't welcome them, perhaps they put them in concentration camps on the coast and perhaps through neglect allowed the traffickers access.
So how bad did they have it in France to make them put their kids in an overloaded rubber raft and risk their lives?
Not like they are escaping from Cuba.
Also perhaps France is in social, political and urban decay.
And maybe the EU doesn’t actually give a crap.
@kevcvs57 saidMoronic.

So they risk their lives and the lives of their families over a second language.
Maybe the UK is the target for these migrants because it is more attractive all round than the EU.
