He might be talking about the Iraq / Iran war where America backed Iraq by providing weaponary, etc ... with America now pointing out how many millions of people died because of Saddam ... and now wonders why Iran is pi$$ed off.
The only conclusion to be made is that Bush and his father are corrupt, war mongers and threats to our security.

But...what exactly does it have to do with the date the 11th of September?

The American sponsored Iran / Iraq war ran from 1980 to 1988. The innocents of both countries experienced (roughly) 8 x 9/11's ...
... and about 8 x 364 other days much the same.

WASHINGTON - A Pentagon probe into the death of Iraqi civilians last November in the Iraqi city of Haditha will show that U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood," a U.S. lawmaker said Wednesday.
From the beginning, Iraqis in the town of Haditha said U.S. Marines deliberately killed 15 unarmed Iraqi civilians, including seven women and three children.
One young Iraqi girl said the Marines killed six members of her family, including her parents. “The Americans came into the room where my father was praying,” she said, “and shot him.”

Originally posted by GinRoseExcept in this case there wasn't any combat until the US soldiers opened fire. They shot people who were praying and both women and children. I don't need to have been in combat to tell you that in that situation the actions are inexcusable.

It's like Mai Lai.
