In the military a "medic" is the guy that comes and puts his finger in the hole someone just put in you.
He's the lifesaver.
He's the one you scream for when hit .. he/she is an Angel in camouflage.
He's a doctor (but not really) on the battlefield.
If you've ever served .. and in particular, if you've ever needed a medic .. you'd kiss the ground they walk on.
