As to having a choice to live socialism, maybe you could write an honest thread about it.
OK Joe - Here is my "honest thread about it"
You throw the word socialism around a lot. Do yourself a favor and consider that our good Government doles out hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to filthy rich corporations every year that don't need it. This is NOT money paid in exchange for goods or services, it's simply a massive government welfare program for the super-rich. Just once - please read the articles in the links below, then ask yourself who's really feeding at the taxpayer hog trough. In addition, states like yours whine about big government pork programs, but let a weather, earthquake or other natural disaster hit your ruby red states, and your goody two shoes Republican lawmakers are the first to run to Washington DC for their big, fat Federal disaster checks, (and of course we're not supposed to talk about all those Republican farmers cashing their government farm subsidy checks, or the fact that red states like Wyoming receive far more federal aid dollars than blue states - are we?) Before you criticize countries in Europe, please consider that we all live under socialism.
Read the articles Mr. free stuf! - you might just learn something. 😏

May I submit to the court that Wyoming, listed by you as receiving 'far more federal aid dollars than blue states' actually receives the LEAST amount of federal aid of ALL,,,, that is ALL, the states. See link above. Scroll down to number 36, Wyoming,, which reads: "Total Revenue From Federal Government : $7.1 Billion....." Followed by "the least".
Come back.......
Having put that to rest, we ca all stipulate that for many decades , both dems and repubs have traded back and forth on government programs, in and out, in and out , pointing fingers, back room deals, the crooked legislator who gets the county road to his house in Tennessee all paved nice and pretty.
Yes, we can all stipulate that some bad stuff, some bad programs, some waste, dirty water, politics, Biden opening the south TX border to be overrun by who knows what from who knows where, who cares. You are mad about corps, I am mad about the rancher at the border who is BEGGING Biden for help, to no avail.
And you are mad about Apple and GE and FORD and Amazon and Musk, yet a few of you here work for corps. I consider that hypocrisy.
I'm mad, too.
I disagree 'we all live under socialism'. There are smatterings of federal programs that deal with social situations that we can banter as being socialist, for the 'Good of the People" as Marxists like Marauder say.
But I can defeat your implications by simply saying that people in countries that are heavy socialist do not let people attain the highest goals possible. Downer. You people are laughable to suggest that would be successful in the USA.
Some People Work Harder Than Others. You will never get around that problem. To you, all is OK if you can blow bubbles in the park and be cared for.
Me? I want to buy a yacht. Makes one think...........
@averagejoe1 saidErm, Joe... the idea is that you drink the communion wine at church, not drink a whole bottle before you go there.
Uhhhh can I put this in my journal as a win? And read your treatise to my coffee buddies on Monday? Sorry Shav, we are in church on Sunday!!

Did you actually read his links at the start?
My takeaway about you is you are all about money only and nothing else.
Also materialistic.
@sonhouse saidYOU DON'T EVEN READ YOUR OWN LINKS, JUST THE HEADLINES

@Wajoma
I was talking about HIS links and yes I DO read most links unless they are from idiot sites like BretFART, NewsHACK, GAB, Faux news and the like.
Funny thing, I THOUGHT I was addressing that question to your buddy, Joe.

Two ways to buy your (~$10 million) yacht:
1) Work really hard. Drywall all day every day. Working labor days and Christmas eve for $15 an hour. 60 hour work weeks, it would take about 11,000 work weeks (211 years) to make the money for that purchase. In other words, never.
2) Lobby the government. Of course you need lots of start up money to do this. Maybe your family helps? Convince the government you can create jobs. Then when the government gives you that money, buy a yacht.
US GDP (2020): 21 trillion
Federal spending: 6.5 trillion (an amazing $3.1 trillion was deficit)
State spending: 1.6 trillion
So we have a "capitalist" system in which more than a third of GDP comes from the government. 15% is deficit spending.
You didn't build that.
