There were loads of fireworks in the city but there's been thunder and lightning which was even better. Except that it's pissing down. And 37 degrees today. Too hot for me.
If my calculations are correct - the lack of shadow from my bamboo stump, with the sun directly above in all its fierce noonness - the New Year is now just beginning to sweep across the Thirteen Colonies and then out across the (rightfully) French and Spanish - and even Russian - bits later.
