Maybe people should grow up and go outside?
I do something outside every day.
Too many people just sit in front of their computer and then whine about being lonely 🙄
Kids don't even play anymore.
The problem is...
1. Laziness
2. Video games
3. Social media which actually has a negative effect on real socializing
4. Lack of confidence
5. Lack of hobbies or interests
6. Etc Etc
@cheesemaster saidOkay, let's take that person from your list with a lack of confidence, perhaps throw in a little social anxiety for good measure.

Your sage advice is that they grow up and go outside?
@cheesemaster saidHabitualization and extinction (of the anxiety) will invariably require outside support. A problem if someone is isolated and lonely.
The best way to overcome those two traits is exposure.
Would you like to take this opportunity to adjust your advice from 'grow up and go outside' to 'get support in reconnecting with the outside world'?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidThe solution to many of these social problems is hard work and accepting the blame for your failures. Too many now seek after the path of least resistance and/or living off their parents or govt. When their life is a failure they blame someone else.

@rajk999 said100% right.

@rajk999 saidTo seek and accept help is a strength, not a weakness. Looking to apportion blame helps nobody.

In non-Covid times, movie theatres get packed. Why pay all that money and get
ripped off for a box of freekin' popcorn when you can stay at home and see
movies on Netflix and eat all the popcorn you want, cheap?
And again, why do a strong core of people go to the clubs and pubs and pay 4-5
times the price you would pay if you bought in the liquor store and went home?
The answer is kinda obvious, don't ya think? People love being with people.
Simple.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhich is why loneliness and isolation is such a terrible thing.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidDevastating.
Which is why loneliness and isolation is such a terrible thing.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI'm not disagreeing with that. Seek help and do something about your life, if that is what needs to be done. Not all people need to seek help. Many fail, get up, try a new strategy and continue that process until they succeed. That is an elementary life skill that parents and teachers probably fail to instill in kids.
