Absolute immunity? Does that exist?

The president has no role to play in counting or tabulating ballots - or certifying results - in presidential elections. It seems like it should be obvious why the legal system does not allow this.

Within any form of democracy, an absolute immunity cannot exist.

Because… wait for it… that’s a dictatorship…

Didn't apply to Nixon. Doesn't apply to Trump either.

I’ve explained this to yiu a hundred times. Just because something is a republic, doesn’t say anything about it being a democracy or not.

And the US is.

If 50.01% say it's 'absolute immunity' then that's what it is, because that's what democracy is.

You are to be commended here Pseud Known as Shag Doody. Yes, you're right, there are things that should be beyond the whim of the mob and the US constitution although constantly under attack was an attempt at doing that.

But as far as analogies go, flat earth versus legal immunity, uh uh, they are two very different things and so you earn an...

I have often advised you the single ijit emoji is your best fall back response, far better than trying to express your thoughts, and it's good to see you following my advice. Keep it up.

Yup. Doesn't change the fact that he had no absolute immunity. His recorded conversations regarding a criminal conspiracy were released, despite his claim to executive privilege and attempt to keep them secret. Same applies to Trump and his co-conspirators: attempting to overturn a legitimate election result does not come under the aegis of the oath he swore to uphold the Constitution.

It's the law that counts on the question of immunity, not what 50% + 1 say. That's what a Rechtsstaat is.

Right. But the assertion of absolute immunity did not apply to Nixon.
