Al Gore says everyone will benefit when new government rules require companies to pay to reduce global warming. But some people will benefit more than others, as will some companies. Benefiting most are those like the ex-vice president who can set up and invest in companies that will profit from the federal regulations imposing heavy costs on others.

Has anyone done more to set back their cause than the Goracle? Basically, he's become Elmer Gantry without the conscience.

lol

I guess I have been too much of a cynic. I thought right from the start that he was in it for fame. It's almost refreshing to realize that megalomania falls second to greed, for one in need.

I turned on the front porch light last night so that my wife could see to make it in safely from the neighbors visit, and I didn't even feel enough guilt to purchase a carbon credit as off-set. Later today, I am going to take up the old Piper and waste 36 gallons of 100LL av gas. I may have to plant a tree I guess. I have a democrat neighbor. Maybe I'll plant it in his ..... yard.

My hunch is that the second coming of Jesus Christ would not alter your opinion on global warming.

Attempting to reduce or correct the problem of global warming is a good idea, regardless of who is championing it.

Why so bent out of joint? I thought you were all for making money??

Also, there's nothing to stop you or anyone else investing in these new companies either...Or would that amount to admitting you were wrong?

How about this, invest in the companies (nothing you aren't prepared to lose) and then IF global warming turns out to be false, then you have the bragging rights and can dance around to your hearts content singing 'I told y'all so!'.
However, if it turns out that there is global warming and these companies do well, at least you'll have a few dollars to help repair your ego...

If only you knew what the words "make money" meant. To literally make money one must create wealth.

Panic is neither warranted nor a constructive place from which to deal with any of humanity's problems, not just global warming. First: There is no evidence (only computer modeling) that proves humans or their activities have caused so-called "global warming. Second: More than $1 trillion a year would be necessary to mitigate global warming, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change:

That money could be spent far better on any number of things, none of which involves mitigating "global warming," according to Bjorn Lomborg:

I'm all about "earning" money. The Goracle is the worst sort of huckster and give Elmer Gantry a bad name.

Not quite:

The U.S. Department of Justice credits Amber Alerts with helping to recover 71 missing children last year. But in a classic instance of "Cry wolf!," the value of Amber Alerts nationally is being threatened by overuse and misuse, says Thomas Hargrove of Scripps Howard News Service:

In the 70's they were worried about global cooling? 🙂 I think that it's a cyclical thing the weather. I just read an article from 1975 about the dangers of global cooling. I think what is wrong about what Gore is doing is that he is making money off people's fears. (not absolutely proven global warming) (Nothing wrong with making money) Is Gore a scientist ?

Oh right you are talking about the global cooling idea that didn't receive any form of consensus among most scientists. In fact most scientists were supporting global warming in the 70s.
