A number of factors are thought to be at play including rampant drug use, obesity, sedentary lifestyles and bad diets. But the timing strongly implies the Covid pandemic has played a role.

The virus itself causes widespread inflammation in the body that can damage the heart or lead to blood clots. Depression, anxiety and stress also surged among young people during lockdowns - and all three have been linked to heart attacks.

Seed oils, fast foods, high fructose corn syrup, processed meats, transfats.
These clog arteries and causes inflammation
The liver produces cholesterol to heal these inflamed cells.
The doctors prescribe statin drugs to counteract high cholesterol.
Statins damage the liver and other organs further.

Some of this damage happens in the womb because the parents were careless.
I think it has very little to do with Covid vaccines.

Veganism is on the rise as well and that aint going to help.

Do you think the whole Paleo, low carbohydrate fitness regime has anything to do with it?

The vegans like to point out that many of the gurus that led the Paleo low carb revolution never made it much past 70.

Yeah, right -- The Donald is our model human: trim fit body, healthy mind, balanced diet, frequent regular exercise, and happy thoughts.

Does that have any truth in it? You have a link that I can read up?

Not sure. I'll look. But famously Atkins who really was one of the first to promote low carbs, died at 72. Cause of death. Heart attack.

Jim Fixx, the author of The Complete Book of Running, one of the fittest people around, was also taken down by heart disease.

Go figure.

This from reddit. At least you can check out each name. From the list, longevity does not seem to correlate all that well with Keto, Paleo, Low carb.

Reading more about Atkins, it was not his diet that killed him, more blunt force trauma due to a fall...

Have any carnivore or keto influencers lived into their late 80s or 90s?

I have not come across a single carnivore or keto influencer who lived into their late 80s or 90s.

If you look up the historical carnivore or keto influencers most died in their 60s and 70s.

\*Cecil Webb-Johnson (died age **50**)

\*Sarah Hallberg (died age **51**)

\*Felix von Niemeyer (died age **51**)

\*Petr Skrabanek (died age **53**)

\*Arnaldo Cantani (died age **56**)

\*Adele Hite (died age **56**)

\*Franklin Bicknell (died age **58**)

\*Alfred W. Pennington (died in his **60s**)

\*Sidney Petrie (died age **64**)

\*Staffan Lindeberg (died age **66**)

\*Michel Montignac (died age **66**)

\*Elma Stewart (died age **66**)

\*Michael Mosley (died age **67**)

\*Herman Tarnower (died age **69**)

\*Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (died age **70**)

\*Eustace Chesser (died age **70**)

\*Francis W. E. Hare (died age **70**)

\*John Fletcher Little (died age **70**)

\*Victor Lindlahr (died age **71**)

\*Walter L. Voegtlin (died age **71**)

\*Robert Atkins (died age **72**)

\*Lauder Brunton (died age **72**)

\*Blake F. Donaldson (died age **73**)

\*Emmet Densmore (died age **74**)

\*Herbert Leon Newbold (died age **73**)

\*Louis Harry Newburgh (died age **73**)

\*Arnold DeVries (died age **74**)

\*Wilhelm Ebstein (died age **75**)

\*Gregory Stevenson Ellis (died aged **75**)

\*Mynie Gustav Peterman (died age **75**)

\*Carlton Fredericks (died age **77**)

\*Barry Groves (died age **77**)

\*Richard Mackarness (died age **79**)

\*Vince Gironda (died age **79**)

\*Abd ul-Rahman Lomax (died age **79**)

\*William Banting (died age **81**)

\*James H. Salisbury (died age **81**)

\*Vilhjalmur Stefansson (died age **82**)

\*Mary G. Enig (died age **83**)

Most of the above influencers wrote books and papers claiming carnivore or keto/low-carb animal-based diets prevent all kinds of disease but there are no exceptional ages here. Blake F. Donaldson is cited on carnivore diet websites as being the modern founder of the carnivore diet but he died age 73.

The only old example I have seen listed on carnivore and keto websites is George V. Mann who died age **95**, however, Mann was not on a carnivore or keto diet he just wrote a book challenging the cholesterol hypothesis.

Keto diets have been around since the late 1700s but there doesn't seem to be any good examples of its proponents living longer than others, the evidence says they live less. Surely if there was any truth in this diet the influencers themselves would be living to their 90s or 100s but no such cases exist.

If you look at plant-based diet influencers, many have lived beyond 90 and some even over 100.

How do the carnivore/keto community explain this?

Thanks for that. Will have a read and check into it. Sometimes instead of looking at individual experiences, we can look at entire nations. Eg India is a good example of a country where there are lots a vegans/vegetarians and yet they have a horrendous heart disease rate.

From what I've heard it's the sheer volume of fat in the form of ghee and sugar as part of the food prep that's hidden in a lot of sauces, plus a low volume of fruit veg and nuts in a typical diet plus everyone drinks a lot of soda, but that's just what I've gleaned over the years.

Yes, although there is a theory that butter and ghee is far better than seed oils. But India consumes lots of both of them.

Here is another thing I look at. The same country over time. Back in the 1930s the USA apparently had no such thing as heart disease, obesity was rare, autism, ADHD and gender confusion were unheard of. Then came seed oils .. canola, corn soya, high fructose corn syrup and lots of other things. Its not the fast food as such is the problem, but the amount of highly processed ingredients in these foods. Very little is natural anymore.

Countries that took long to follow the US down this road have less heart disease.
