Somehow I felt like capitalizing 'Military'. And let your college grads, with their $$ salaries, know that they may have to take a back seat. May need that $479B to build Hamas-Killing jets.

The US military is so bloated as it is that I'm just going to assume this is a feeble attempt at self-parody.

When Putin moves on Zahanzi in Romania, we will be there first call. Or more clearly, if they call out for help, what country do you think will get the call? What will we employ to help them?
Right..

The US already spends more than 10 times what Russia does on its military. https://www.sipri.org/sites/default/files/2023-04/2304_fs_milex_2022.pdf

It needs to keep Russia and China from taking over the world.

I expect the Spanish-Italian Amphibious Battlegroup to be the first to move to defend Romania.

We can flatten Gaza with B52s. That's not what we need new jets for.

The Pentagon did an audit once and admitted it wasted $125 billion just on administrative costs. Yet we still think it's cool to equate more funding with more defense.

If we cut $100 billion from the Pentagon budget, the only people who would notice are lobbyists and contractors.

But we need them…..as JJ says, to keep China from taking over the world. Can you imagine being equal with everyone else, with communism or socialism or Marxism….when there are so many cultures? Some people think that one group pay the bills other people. Look it up, they are OUT there!
This is why we need to nip it in the bud. By remaining stronger than all the others.

True, but these points are not about waste. That’d be another thread. Waste. Like blowing our treasury paying loans of losers, when those dollars could build more prisons.! I just don’t like thieves, sorry.

"beefing up the military" is pointless if the military is puking the beef out the car window.

The military needs oversight and budget cuts. It can clearly perform its duties without any more beef.

That statement will upset some thin-skinned liberals.
I will call them out....Hey, any of you think that we should NOT be militarily the strongest in the world? Who, then?
Funny how you libs decide that the rich should be restricted in some way from having money, and you want the US to be restricted militarily. My my, is that canceling? Are you thus the cancel culture, which you have often denied?

Pretty much every major US military operation in the last 50 years, except very limited ones and/or those aimed at really small and weak nations like Grenada or Panama, has been a fiasco. From Saigon to Beirut to Mogadishu to Baghdad and Kabul, the mighty US military has been humbled and forced to withdraw.

And wasting so much of the nation's resources on weapons is a recipe for long term economic stagnation, which is mostly what we have gotten.
