how can you avoid biased juries?

You can't. That's why we have an appeals process, and it's worked reasonably well for over 2 centuries.

Can we have a better system than the appeal process?

IMHO - No.

You might want to consider however, under Trump there will be no appeals process, the word of Trump (and only Trump) will be final.

In the Netherlands you don’t have jury trials.
The judge judges. And in serious crimes 3 judges judge.

Judges in the Netherlands are not political appointments.
Neither is the prosecution.

Machine learning (AI) does not repeat what it is programmed to. It is self learning and draws its own conclusions. Based on the source material, granted. But that’s not that different to humans. Garbage input = garbage output.

Yes. You say to the machine: use everything you can find in database X, Y and Z.
And from that it creates its own answers. Just like a human.

You can go one step further: prompt: use anything you can find on the internet.
Etc.

Check out the new EU AI law. It breaks it down into 4 categories and makes it clear.

Bias creep is basically the same as going down a rabbit hole.

From wiki:

Machine learning (ML) is a field of study in artificial intelligence concerned with the development and study of statistical algorithms that can learn from data and generalize to unseen data, and thus perform tasks without explicit instructions.

He will ALWAYS have a snide remark no matter what you bring up.
You bring it up, he pukes it up.

I think he’s on about robots or something. As soon as I realised he has no idea what he’s babbling about, combined with it being a semantic argument without any real impact, I just concluded: fvck it; not worth the bother.

A sentiment I feel growing on a whole range of subjects.
