I remember back in the 80’s people were saying things like Manchester should be called Peoplechester and Blackpool Multipool (or something).

Feminism is such a poor choice of definition. It's an attitude that everyone is equal- it should have a different name. It's not feminist to argue about names of places without knowing the meaning of the original name, that's either humour or ignorance (depending on how it's delivered/ intended).

This university blog sums it up well; "Being a feminist means that you fight for the equality of all people. It's important that your feminism is intersectional; it should not exclude people based on their gender, race, socioeconomic status, ability, or sexual orientation. It's funny! Not pathetic. Even if they say it in ignorance, it's still funny to you and me because it's silly. It's like a tattoo in another language that means sandwich when they thought it meant love, or those spelling mistakes that change a meaning.
