You cannot try a President for stupidity; they are all despots; and egregious offenses against decency, truth, civil rights, and the American system of govrnment are all that anyone ever expected from this administration.
yes, but surely he cannot go around the congress. no matter that he is the commander in chief, he still is in a democratic country and the will of the people(congress) should come first. there must be ways in wich he can be stoped to send troops if the congress doesn't want him to.

influence of lobby groups leading to stupid gun laws, arms industries out of control etc..
Overly Right wing influence of news corporations leading to idiotic beliefs in many areas, including jingoistic and nationalistic tendencies.
Excessive diet of popular left wing journalists and luvvies leading to political correctness.
Yet it is still the Coutry most people want to live in.

A democracy or "pure democracy" its called, has no representatives. The people make the laws, they do not elect representatives to make laws.

It isn't just purely representive though, there are things called referendums as well (you might call them propositions) that are used sometimes.

Democracy doesn't work because "the people" as a whole do what is best less often then elected representatives do. "The people are right" is a common fallacy subscribed to by those with populist tendencies.

now to the issue at hand. in his own words: bush said that no matter what the congress or the main parties or the american people say, it has already been decided to go ahead. decided by whom? since when does a president from a democratic country starts making decisions on his own?
