I find it hilarious that you have no problem with the government enslaving the population by laying claim to the nation's labor. You work and the government takes its cut and lets you keep what it allows you to keep.
That sounds an awful lot like the Feudal system to me.

red, in the US lefties are generally democrats or socialists, in politic speak even when they may well be right (politically speaking) or Euro politicians and leaders.

It's better to be enslaved to a nation in which you as a person decide what the nation does, than to a multinational which you have no control or say over at all.

Surely that's a worse kind of slavery?
You really believe that the multinational group isn't pulling the strings at the national level too?

The conclusion is "America is not the greatest country in the world, but it used to be"

America has made history, just like other empires that may have lasted much longer but never on a global basis as the USA. I am no connaisseur but would risk a feeling that the USA is the first and the last to hold such extensive power. IMHO the downfall started in 89 with the fall of the Berlin wall and the victory of capitalism - a two-edged sword.

I think upon closer inspection you'll find 1980 a more relevant year.

Slavery is slavery, unless you are using loose definitions.
